The historic town of Pulaski has a long industrial tradition with a mining legacy that once had people referring to the area as the “Pittsburgh of the South.” Many locally owned and national companies call the area home today, sharing a naturally setting with tranquil residential neighborhoods. One of the points of pride in the community is the Pulaski Blue Jays minor league baseball team that plays in Calfee Park. The park is one of the distinctive assets of the community, listed as a national and state historic landmark and more recently named the Appalachian League Facility of the Year. This unique ballpark has been featured in state and national publications including Sports Illustrated and National Geographic. The New River Valley Fairgrounds provides a multi-use venue for annual fairs, flea markets, rodeos, livestock competition, and the New River Valley Horse Show. The historic downtown district serves as an antique and arts center, and plans are underway to bring Pulaski Theatre back to its original glory for use a cultural center.
