The City of Fulton grew up in two sections, with the area along the west side of Oswego River known as Oswego Falls merging with Fulton Village in the early 20th Century under a new city charter. Two bridges have historically connected these two areas, rebuilt and refurbished over the decades. Fulton provides a number of amenities that serve local residents but also those living in the surrounding rural towns, including commercial development and a branch campus for Cayuga Community College. Recreational Park nestles along the banks of Lake Neatahwanta, providing a waterfront area and pier along with athletic fields and picnic facilities. Events and activities are also held at the Fulton War Memorial with an exhibition hall, gymnasium, and covered arena. The city also operates a campground, a bandstand called The Gazebo for musical concerts, and a beach swimming area. Nearby Granby Town sponsors its own events and activities for area youth, from indoor sports during the winter to educational trips throughout Central New York.
