Picturesque Clinton Village was founded in 1787 and was widely known for outstanding secondary schools. For nearly a century, these schools graduated famous students like US President Grover Cleveland, Red Cross founder Clara Barton, and university founder Leland Stanford. That proud legacy remains today in Hamilton College, enriching the community with performing arts series, lectures, readings, and exhibitions. Housed in an 1842 church, Kirkland Arts Center features gallery exhibitions, coffeehouses, concerts, and a variety of arts classes. Clinton’s Village Green adds a charming setting for community events from concerts and farmer’s markets to parades and the Historic Clinton Week celebration. One of Clinton’s points of pride is the evolution of tiny Clinton Pharmacy into the international pharmaceutical giant, Bristol-Myers-Squibb.
