TAX & LICENSE / HUNTING/FISHING LICENSE

Minnesota Regulations
Those who fish on public land in Minnesota and are at least 16 years old must carry a valid license, which is available at licensed retail centers, online, or by telephone using a credit card. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a licensed adult. Lifetime licenses are available to those who have been a Minnesota resident for at least one year. Fees vary with the type and duration of license and residency status. Hunting licenses are also required, with specific guidelines on safety education and supervision in regard to the age of the hunter. Anyone born on or after January 1, 1980, must have a Firearms Safety Certificate or equivalent, a previous hunting license with a valid firearms safety indicator, or other evidence of successfully completing a hunter safety course in order to obtain a license for taking game with a firearm. Watercraft and RV registrations are handled by the DNR or your motor vehicle titling agent. For more information, contact:
