This public transit agency provides a combination of link light rail, Sounder commuter train, and regional bus routes to King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. The light-rail system connecting communities in the Puget Sound region will eventually encompass eight lines that link the four major regional centers. Sounder commuter rail service is available between Tacoma and downtown Seattle with stops in Puyallup, Sumner, Auburn, Kent, and Tukwila. ST Express buses provide convenient, frequent, two-way service throughout the region each day.

The Monorail departs every 10 minutes from the station at Seattle Center, across from the Space Needle, and from Westlake Center mall at Fifth and Pine Street. Each two-minute trip covers the complete one-mile route, and each train carries up to 400 passengers per trip.

Statewide Transportation Programs
The Washington State Department of Transportation maintains 7,000 miles of highways and 3,300 bridges and tunnels—including the longest and widest of the world’s first floating bridges. WSDOT also operates the state’s most popular tourist attraction, the Washington State Ferries, with 29 boats carrying over 27 million passengers annually.
