TAX & LICENSE / PET LICENSING
Ohio Regulations
Ohio maintains state laws that require dog licensing including annual rabies vaccinations as well as leash and nuisance ordinances. Dogs must be licensed if they are at least three months old by January 31. First-time licenses and renewals must be finalized between December 1 and January 31 each year to avoid late penalties. New residents have 30 days to comply with licensing regulations. Licenses can be purchased through your county auditor’s office (listed under Ohio Real Property Tax section). Kentucky Regulations
In accordance with Kentucky law, all dogs and cats four months of age and older must be vaccinated annually against rabies with a licensed and approved vaccine administered by a licensed, accredited veterinarian. Dogs must be licensed in the county where you reside, although the county will issue a state dog license. Counties, cities, and other jurisdictions develop their own animal control ordinances, including rabies vaccinations for cats as well as dogs that are more than four months old, leash laws, humane treatment, and other regulations.
